When I have been to South Carolina the first time, an unusual plant struck my eyes: Spanish Moss. This parasite-like Bromeliaceae plant grows mainly on oak and cypress trees in the southeastern states.
The first two photographs have been taken on Boone Hall Plantation near Charleston, the third picture in the old town of Charleston.

Die Coface Arena in Mainz im Winter 2011/2012

Heute war einmal wieder die Gelegenheit, bei strahlendem Sonnenschein und klirrender Kälte das neue Stadion der 05er aufzunehmen. Today I had the chance to take a picture of the Mainz soccer team’s new stadium called “Coface Arena”. The picture above has been shot with a Canon EOS 60D and perspective was shifted. The photograph is available in my store.

This photograph has just been added to my stock. It shows the old water tower on the Wiesbaden Slaughterhouse’s premises. The front wall features colorful graffiti. There is a construction site crane in the background and a poster on the tower says: I will be cultural center.
The HDR image has been taken in January 2012. It can be purchased in my store.

Auf der Mauer im Vordergrund sind farbenfrohe Graffiti zu sehen. Im Hintergrund ein Kran der Baustelle. Am Turm hängt ein Plakat mit der Aufschrift: Ich werde Kulturzentrum.

On a walk through Toronto’s Distillery District in 2010 we found this beautiful old car, symbol of the American way of life, rural style and decay. Or its just a piece of art, carefully placed by people who know what they do.

In the Middle Rhine Valley (Rhine Gorge) are many famous castles and fortresses to be found. Georg Dahlhoff started a series of pictures which I like to recommend here. The Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas is a stunning building designed by Frank Gehry. To photographers like me the bended metallic shape is a welcome eyecatcher, but there has been harsh critique as well.

From Wikipedia: On his blog, New Urbanist and architecture critic James Howard Kunstler named the Lou Ruvo center his “Eyesore Of The Month” for April 2010. Kunstler sharply criticized the Center’s design, writing: “It seems to say: This is your brain on Frank Gehry”. Kunstler suggested that the architecture was inappropriate for the building’s purpose: “If I had a problem with my brain, I would not be reassured arriving at this place. The implicit sadism is impressive”.

I had my photographs taken during the construction period in spring 2010 when the place still was a construction site.

The pictures presented in this gallery show the rooftops of the city of Wiesbaden, Germany. The photographs have all been taken in Winter and from the upper decks of parking garages. A common feature of these pictures is the cloudy weather and the vivid blue tones.
